Description:

Stand strong on the trails and express yourself, Mission Tejas style!

We’ve all felt the envy when a visitor or Ranger at the park walks past you with a cool cane, splendid staff, or terrific twig helping them along. Maybe some of us have even felt the grab one on the trail to help us along... BUT of course that’s against the rules!

- Be jealous no longer, come to MTSP and make your own walking stick to show off on your outdoor adventures! Whether for a gift or for yourself, making art in Texas State Parks helps support stewardship.

- As we work, Ranger Jared will share some surprising information about the history of hiking and some of the types of wood we’ll have to choose from. Park staff will be on hand to assist with tools and help you turn your wood blank into a work of art!

- We will have a variety of species, shapes, and sizes of blanks to choose from first come first serve. Feel free to bring your own of course!

- Due to the fact that the blanks will be harvested outside of the park at a limited availability, we are asking participants to RSVP for this event. Contact the Park’s Office or Ranger Jared at the email address listed on this posting.

Meet @ the Day-Use Pavilion. Participants are encouraged to bring water, closed toed shoes, clothing they don’t mind getting stained or dirty, and a creative eye!

Please RSVP with your number of desired participants, attendance may be capped depending on demand.

*Attendance to this event is open to the public and free after regular day use or camping fees.
