Description:

Come admire the moon under the dark sky, and learn about its connection to the Caddo story of creation.

Come join Ranger Jared in using our telescope to see the moon like never before. We will learn about the story of or nearest neighbor according to modern science, and then travel back to ancient times and discuss its role in the Caddo creation mythos.

- As we walk and talk on our way to the viewing location, those who want their own light should bring a red lens/light if possible to allow for night vision adjustment. There will be a limited number of headlights available from the park, first come first serve.

- Once we are set up in the viewing location, the use of cell phones, flash photography, and white light flashlights is discouraged.

Participants may want to bring water, bug spray, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, a folding chair if desired, a light (red if possible), and a nocturnal mindset.

Meet at the Commemorative Mission!
