Description:

Aim to keep history alive by giving archery your best shot!

Visit Mission Tejas State Park for an introductory archery lesson with our Rangers! All equipment will be provided by the park, with bows in both youth and adult sizes.

- After a short talk about why archery was important to the American Indian groups of Texas, including the Caddo Confederacy who called this part of the state home, we’ll get into a NASP style archery lesson!

- We will go over archery safety, proper technique, and then let the arrows fly! After a few practice heats, those who desire can enter a shootout to win a special prize (youth and adults will compete separately).

Participants may want to bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, bug spray, and a keen eye. Age 7 is the minimum for participation y’all!

Meet on the Festival Grounds behind the Rice Log Home (look for the targets)!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free after regular day use or camping fees.
