Description:

Stand strong on the trails and express yourself, Mission Tejas style!

We’ve all felt the temptation to gather that prefect branch to help us along on a hike, BUT of course that’s against the rules!

  • Be jealous no longer, come to MTSP and make your own unique walking stick to show off on all your outdoor adventures!
  • Whether for a gift or for yourself, learn why making art in Texas State Parks supports environmental stewardship in the Lone Star State.
  • Park staff will be on hand to assist with some tools and materials to help you customize the look of your stick and turn your wood blank into a work of art!

Please RSVP with your number of desired participants, attendance may be capped depending on demand. Blanks are harvested outside of the park at a limited availability, so participants need to RSVP! Contact the Park’s Office or Ranger Jared at the email address listed on this posting. We will have a variety of species, shapes, and sizes of blanks to choose from, first come first serve. Feel free to bring your own of course!

Participants are encouraged to bring water, closed toed shoes, clothing they don’t mind getting stained or dirty, bug spray, and a creative eye! Attendance may be capped.

Meet at the Maintenance Area down the road from the Rice Family Log Home! (Near the old HQ building)

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.
