Description:

Learn more about the clingiest critter in the Pineywoods…

Ticks are a well known nuisance to anyone who has ever owned a pet or spent serious time outdoors. But what’s the deal with those little creepers? Are they good for anything? Are they always dangerous? Do they serve a purpose out here among the pines?

- Come visit Mission Tejas and sit in on a Ranger Talk for the inside scoop on ticks.

- Learn where they fit into the natural order within the ETX forest, yes… for some animals they’re a snack!

- Learn how to protect yourself from ticks and the dangers they sometimes carry with them.

- You probably won’t be scrambling for a pet tick afterwards, but you might gain some respect for these scrappy little critters. Understanding ticks is the best first step to protecting yourself when exploring the places they live!

Bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the park, mosquito spray, and don’t get itchy!

Meet at the Interpretive Center
